Mahela Jayawardene turned the offer of the World Cup consultant to his home country.

Sri Lanka legend batsman has also succeeded as coach / consultant after retirement. Mahela has been seen to be successful by working in different countries of the country.

So the Sri Lankan board wanted him as a consultant in the upcoming World Cup, but Mahela returned the offer.

He said, I do not feel worthy of doing this myself. And my own country has lost consciousness.

Jayawardene sent a plan to pitch the local cricket framework, to promote the country's post-retirement cricket, but the board did not accept its proposal.

After that, Sri Lankan Board did not take any action to implement the proposal, with Arvind De Silva, Kumar Sangakkara, and Jayawardene making an analytical proposal for cricket development.

The Sri Lankan Great, therefore, rejected the board's offer of anger and pride.
